PHP for Heroin Treatment: Are You a Candidate?
Meta: Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHPs)s are a great tool in healing from addiction. Most people are good candidates for a PHP when they are recovering from a heroin addiction. PHPs are also used after a recovering addict goes through a residential treatment facility.
Intro: Partial Hospitalization Programs for heroin are a novel approach to long-standing methods. Partial Hospitalization Program(s) or PHP(s) combine the best of outpatient treatment and residential treatment. In fact, that’s what they are. PHPs are usually used as an intermediary treatment between residential treatment and outpatient treatment. In other words, a PHP method would be used if someone is leaving residential treatment and not yet ready to be in the outpatient treatment. DreamLife Recovery has a state-of-the-art PHP program. You can find more here.
What Is a PHP?
A PHP is much like residential treatment. A daily routine and treatment plan are available throughout the day, sometimes for up to eight hours. Unlike a residential treatment plan, the patient gets to go home after their day of treatment is over. This is in contrast to outpatient treatment, where the patient is expected to attend nine hours of therapy every week. Sleeping in your own bed can be a very comforting experience after all of the hard work of therapy. Being with your loved ones outside of a hospital setting for the first time is also priceless.
What Programs are Available in a PHP?
The standard programs that you would find in the DreamLife Recovery residential treatment program facility are also available in our PHP program. This includes a continuation of family therapy, individual therapy, and group therapy. You will be able to come to your family therapy sessions with your family instead of having them meet you there. During this time with your family, you can show them that everything will be alright, that you are trying, and you are making great progress.
Can I Still Get Help for my Dual Diagnosis During My PHP?
Dreamlife Recovery specializes in Dual Diagnosis/Co-occurring disorders. If you have a mental disorder as well as an addiction to heroin or any other drug, you will still receive the same attentive care for your mental disorder as you would when you were still in residential care. You can still see the same faces that laughed with you, cried with you, and shared one of your most intimate journeys — the journey to sobriety.
You can still compare notes with other patients in your usual group therapy and realize how different you are from everyone and how much you are all the same. You will have people there to support you who have been there and are still there. These are individuals who understand you now, at this moment in time. Moments that we can help you from repeating. Moments of intense sadness and feeling of loss, isolating, as the drug took over. We are here for you to start your healing journey. We are here to help you from having to relive those moments of addiction to heroin.
Who is at DreamLife Recovery?
Here at DreamLife Recovery, you will have doctors and nurses that you can trust. Finding a doctor on your own is a tricky business, but here at DreamLife Recovery, we hire only the best professionals. We know what medications you need and how to make things easier so that you don’t feel like heroin is your only escape from pain. You will be given medical and therapeutic tools to cope with your disorder without heroin. Life is possible without heroin. We know that it might not feel like that now, but trust us. You can recover, and we can help you.
Why Do I Need a PHP After Residential Treatment?
It might seem like you could step right from residential care to an outpatient program, but heroin is paralyzingly addictive. The solution to heroin addiction is long-term, and a few months will not solve the issue, especially if there is a co-occurring disorder like depression or PTSD.
There is also the need for restructuring at home. Many times, victims of heroin addiction have to find a new group of friends and/or change their situations outside the clinic. This can be very isolating; it is hard to make changes at home. So, when you are discharged from the residential treatment clinic, you go through a PHP. This not only gives you time at home, but this also allows you to put the family therapy techniques you and your loved ones have learned into practice.
Change is hard. But a PHP allows you to slowly readjust to your community and surroundings instead of just “throwing you back out there.” There is an alarming relapse rate when it comes to heroin addiction. Using a PHP, our PHP, in your healing process is a good way to guarantee future sobriety.
How Do I Find the Right PHP?
We, at DreamLife Recovery, are one of the top heroin and opioid recovery centers in Pennsylvania. We are located in Pittsburgh for easy access for visiting families. We will happily accept patients from outside of Pennsylvania as well. The question is not how much does it cost. We at DreamLife Recovery accept several insurance companies. The question is, will it work? Here at Dreamlife Recovery, we work to give you the tools necessary. We understand the importance of medication and peer support throughout the recovery process. We help your family heal, we help you heal.
There is no price high enough for your sobriety and happiness. As much as it might seem like heroin can provide happiness, that is not true. The drug will just want more, and more, and more, even when you have nothing left. Addictions like heroin addiction are horrible, paralyzing disorders. They ruin your individuals’ lives and entire families. Please allow us to put you on the road to recovery today!
